Thursday, February 14:

Announcements:
Bake Sale: Today the junior class is holding a bake sale.
Long Winter Weekend: No school tomorrow or Monday, February 18.
Certamen: The Jr. High team and the Advanced Team both took 3rd place at the final Certamen competition of this school year last night.
Interim: Next week, Wednesday through Friday, the middle & upper school students will be studying the Renaissance era. 
Fun Fair:
 Students are needed to work at the Fun Fair on March 1.  Those interested in volunteering should speak to Mr. Nunez.
Volunteering:

  • Students that wish to look for volunteer opportunities can visit www.wevolunteer.org for a listing of organizations.
  • Eagle Academic Camp will be held at Keith School for three weeks in July.  Upper school volunteers are needed.  Please see information on the 3rd floor bulletin board.

Juniors: Huntington Learning Center will be offering a free diagnostic ACT on Monday.  If students are interested or desire more information, they should call Huntington Learning Center.
Seniors: A letter was mailed home to parents of the senior students regarding putting senior pictures in the yearbook.  The deadline for this is March 1!
College News: Jacob Jang has been accepted at Bradley University.  Sophia Nicolosi has been accepted at Augustana College and Anna McCormack has been accepted at Columbia College.
AP Exams: AP Exams will be held in May.  Registration forms will be mailed home to parents early next week.  Forms are expected back with payment for the exams.
Rosemary: This girls’ a capella group will practice on Thursday at 7:30 a.m.
Accident:
A student’s car has had some significant damage while parked in the school parking lot.  If anyone knows what happened he or she can speak to Dr. Lee.

Clubs
SAB: SAB is sponsoring a Sadie Hawkins Dance on March 9 for upper school students.  Tickets are $7.00/single or $10/couple.  For a charge of $1.00, girls can have Ben Ross dress up like a cowboy and lasso a guy of their choice to be their date.

Sports
MS Girls’ Basketball: The young cougars lost to South Beloit last night by a close score of 35-30.  The next game will be Tuesday at Shirland.
Varsity Girls’ Basketball:
The Lady Cougars wrapped up their season on Tuesday night.  ”This season was the first step in bringing back the girls basketball program.,” said Mr. Nunez.
Varsity Boys’ Basketball: The Cougars will begin regional play on Tuesday vs. Dakota.  The bus will leave Keith School at 4:15.  There will be room on this bus for fans.  See Mr. Nunez.

Announcements:
Spelling Bee: The spelling bee winners were announced this morning.  Arslaan Naseer was the winner from the 5th grade class.  Ashley Wehrstein was the winner from the 7th grade class.  The runner-up was Aadam Khan-Mundozie from the 6th grade class.  The overall winner of the 2013 Spelling Bee is Rebecca Lisk.  She will next compete and represent Keith School at the regional level.
Regional Champs!: Keith took 1st place at the regional WYSE competition at Rock Valley College last Friday.  Their next competition will be on March 13 at Northern Illinois University.  Individual medal winners are as follows: Biology –  Max Moore, Chemistry –  Max Moore & Grant Leum; Computer Science – Carter Davis; Engineering Graphics – Carter Davis; English – Brianna Nivinski; Math – Kevin Hart & Keely Johnson; Physics- Ethan Lu.
Bake Sales:
Today the sophomore class is holding a 2-Bite Tuesday sale.  On Thursday, the junior class will hold a bake sale.
Constitution Jam Session:
The jam session will be tonight for 8th graders in room 311 beginning at 3:15 p.m.
US Quiz Bowl:
Practice today at 3:30 p.m.
MS Scholastic Bowl: 
Practice every Wednesday after school in room 311.

CRUSH Sale: The junior class is sponsoring a CRUSH sale.  Purchase a can of CRUSH soda to send to a friend for .50/can.  The cans of CRUSH will be delivered on Valentine’s Day.  Flavor choices are Strawberry, Orange or Grape.  Orders are being taken through today.
