Thursday, February 28:

Announcements:
Quiz Bowl: Practice today after school.  There will be a competition on Saturday in Springfield, IL.
Basil: 
Rehearsal tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
Tomorrow: Tomorrow, the MS/US will be going to Navy Pier to the Shakespeare Festival to see Romeo and Juliet.  This is a black and white dress day for all.  Students should dress warmly as the air off the lake may be chilly.  Students should bring $10-15 for the  food court.  Credit cards are not accepted.
Fun Fair: Students are needed to work at the Fun Fair tomorrow.  Those interested in volunteering should speak to Mr. Nunez.
US Solo and Ensemble: Several upper school students will be competing in a solo and ensemble competition this Saturday.
Butter Braids: Order forms were mailed home.  Please sell butter braids and turn in order forms with the money attached to Mrs. Doherty.
Seniors: A letter was mailed home to parents of the senior students regarding putting senior pictures in the yearbook.  The deadline for this is tomorrow!
Grades: Mid-quarter grade reports have been mailed home.  Now is the time to check NetClassroom and make sure the grades are pulled up where you they should be.
AP Exams: AP Exams will be held in May.  Registration forms have been mailed home.  Forms are expected back with payment for the exams by March 15.
ART: Several Keith student have artwork entered into the Rock Valley College Juried Art Show.  Opening night will be Wednesday from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.
Congratulations!:  
Junior, Tom Stott, has been accepted into a summer program at Stanford in Palo Alto, CA.
Volunteering: Students can volunteer for the Special Olympics at Harlem High School on May 4.  If you want more information, see Mrs. Walsh.
Exchange Program:
 Any students that are interested in exploring life abroad for 3 weeks in the summer should speak to Dr. Lee and get more information.

Clubs
EnergyNet: The EnergyNet members are selling Bergner’s Coupon booklets for $5.00.
SAB: 
SAB is sponsoring a Sadie Hawkins Dance on March 9 for upper school students.  Tickets are $7.00/single or $10/couple.  For a charge of $1.00, girls can have Ben Ross dress up like a cowboy and lasso a guy of their choice to be their date.
MD Club: Meeting today at 3:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor study hall area from 3:30 – 4:00 p.m.
MS Dissection Club:
Middle school students that are interested in dissecting animals should speak to Mr. Bye.  The first meeting will be on Monday after school.
New Club: 
Some students wish to start a new club on campus which will consist of a group of students watching an episode of Seinfeld and eating Pop Tarts.  If anyone is interested in this club he or she should speak to Carter Davis or Matt Greer.

Bake Sale:
The sophomore 2-Bite Tuesday sale is happening today!
MS Scholastic Bowl: Congratulations to the MS Scholastic Bowl team.  They brought home the 1st place trophy from the “Just Solve It!” Wallace Academic Team Invitational 2013 Tournament.  Rebecca Lisk, Audrey Roh, Robert Raleigh, Grant Nagel & Shelby Martin were selected to the all tournament team.  Practice today after school until 5:30 p.m.
US Math Team:
The US Math team competed at Rock Valley College on Saturday. Overall the US Math team finished in the top 10 for the state of Illinois. Congratulations to the following: 

      • Rachel Kobernat – 1st place Algebra I
      • Siying Li – 1st place Geometry
      • Foster Zhen – 1st place Algebra II
      • Ryan Williams – 2nd place Algebra II
      • Ben Barteau – 3rd place Pre-Calculus
      • 9th & 10th Grade – 1st place (8 person team)
      • 11th & 12th Grade – 1st place (8 person team)

6th Grade Boys’ Basketball: The young Cougars posted a victory last night in the Art Sadtler League.
MS Girls’ Basketball: Home game tonight at 5:30 p.m. vs. St. Paul.  The young Lady Cougars will play a home game tomorrow as well vs. Shirland.

Monday, February 25:
Announcements: 
5th Grade:
Some 5th grade students will be visiting the 6th grade classes today.
Reminder: 
All students that are not in an after-school activity MUST go to the 3rd floor study hall area.
Thank You!: Dr. Lee expressed his appreciation to all of the faculty that organized a great Interim.  He also thanked the students for how well they participated in the activities.
Tomorrow:
The seniors will be going to the Center of Hope to do art projects with the residents.  These projects will be auctioned off to raise money for the facility.  Permission slips must be turned in.

  • Eagle Academic Camp will be held at Keith School for three weeks in July.  Upper school volunteers are needed.  Please see information on the 3rd floor bulletin board.
