Keith Country Day School is often described as one of the most beautiful pre-school through 12th grade campuses in the entire region. Our 15-acre property is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, surrounded by beautiful trees and a picturesque view of the Rock River. It is the perfect environment for young students to explore the world around them and it is located less than a half a mile from community resources like Sinnissippi Park, the University of Illinois Medical School, the Nicholas Conservatorym and Anderson Japanese Gardens. Campus consists of three buildings: the Middle and Upper School builidng, the Intermediate School building, and the Rhea building.
MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL BUILDING
The middle and upper school building was completed in 1971 when the school expanded to include high school grades. Mainly, this building hosts the middle and upper school students but the lower school students also use it for lunch, library time, and events in the Gaylord Commons and the gym.
One of the defining features of the middle and upper school are the small classrooms, which help promote lively discussions and more individualized attention. The third floor hosts the foreign language, history and English departments. Most classrooms are equipped with SMART boards, Epson Industrial Projectors and wireless internet connectionw. In addition, the athletic director, college counselor, and student-technology support offices are located on this floor.
The second level is an open floor plan with offices/space for the Head of Middle and Upper School, the Director of Finance, and a faculty work area. Equipped with 21st century technology, all mathematics and science classes surround the Gaylord Commons, which is also used for school-wide events and all Middle and Upper School drama performances.
The bottom floor hosts a multipurpose gym used for athletics and physical education, a lunch room, and kitchen. Also on this floor is the music room, complete with small, sound-proof rooms and storage area for large instruments, and the art studio with pottery wheels, a kiln, a dark room for photography and computers for basic graphic design.
In the lower level, are both boys and girls locker rooms, a weight room and our library, used by the entire student body.
RHEA AND INTERMEDIATE BUILDINGS
The Intermediate and Rhea buildings provide a safe, nurturing atmosphere for our lower school student body. Third, fourth and fifth grade classrooms are located within the Intermediate building, while the Rhea building hosts the preschool through second grade students. All classrooms in the both buildings are equipped with the SMART boards and wireless internet connectivity.
Some of the tremendous amenities within our lower school include a science lab, with all of the latest FOSS (Full Option Science System) curriculum materials, a music room, a computer lab, and a beautiful art room with an inspiring view of the Rock River.
Our Lower School also features a resource room, where we provide students additional academic support, a smaller lunchroom for preschool through kindergarten students, and a huge playground area.
