B.A. in Sociology from the University of Texas at Dallas
Mrs. Callender joins Keith with more than 13 years of teaching experience in both private and public schools. A Texas native, Mrs. Callender graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a B.A. in Sociology. After working and instructing in art museums for several years, she obtained her teaching certificate and spent more than a decade in elementary education throughout the state of Texas. As a classroom teacher, she instructed Kindergarten and grades 2, 3, and 4. She also previously owned and operated a preschool where she honed her education management and communication skills, in addition to teaching.
Ongoing, open communication and parental involvement are pillars within Mrs. Callender’s classroom. She prioritizes sharing photos and day-to-day activities with families in order to increase connection to the classroom.
Creative and organized, her background in both liberal and fine arts brings creativity and a broad worldview to the classroom. She emphasizes play-based learning and authentic educational experiences in a safe and nurturing environment that encourages conversation and risk-taking.
Mrs. Callender’s interests outside the classroom include interior design, reading and spending time with her husband, Dave and rescue dog, Chalula.
