Lower School Character Education Teacher
B.A. in English and B.A. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University
As Keith’s lower school character educator, Mrs. Murati helps develop students into confident and compassionate children who are effective contributors to society, successful learners, and responsible citizens.
Working with preschool through fifth grade, she helps students develop an understanding of roles and responsibilities within the wider community. By exposing them to people and situations outside their previous experiences, Mrs. Murati helps her students become aware of the diverse needs of others and the importance of selfless service.
Before stepping into the role of lower school character educator, Mrs. Murati was a teacher assistant, helping Keith students build confidence as they mastered social, independent, and academic skills.
Using weekly themed books and hands-on activities, she introduced students to different cultures and emotions while highlighting inclusiveness, understanding, and acceptance. She also worked closely with parents seeking additional support and resources for their child both inside and outside of the classroom.
Prior to her time at Keith, Mrs. Murati was a family teacher at Mooseheart Child City and School, a suburban Chicago residential childcare facility for youth in need. She assisted elementary and middle school boys as they learned social, academic, and independent skills. Mrs. Murati worked closely with the students to establish individualized behavior modification goals through a balanced approach that simultaneously corrected behaviors and provided a nurturing, encouraging, and stable environment to help them reach their full potential.
During her tenure at Mooseheart, Mrs. Murati also held the position of executive assistant to the superintendent of education, athletic director, and dean of students. In this role she assisted with behavioral interventions for more than 200 children and teens on campus. She also served in a guidance role for middle and high school students assisting with time management, on-campus housing responsibilities, peer relations, and college prep.
Mrs. Murati is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, holding a Bachelor of Arts in both English and Psychology.
